WANT TO GET RID OF TICKS? USE NEMATODES!
For the control of other insects such as fleas, nematodes are already being used. The small worms use body openings to enter the relevant insect, after which it secretes a bacterium that will eventually lead to death. Finally, new nematodes will emerge inside of the dead insect that will do the same. Nematodes are also increasingly used against the oak processionary caterpillar.
Biological pest control
The use of nematodes for tick control is a biological and environmentally friendly form of pest control. The natural balance of the environment is hardly disturbed and nematodes are harmless to humans, mammals and amphibians.
By using this biological and environmentally friendly form of pest control, the number of ticks is reduced and humans and animals are less likely to get tick bites.
